About my Mini project…

For my course, we are required to do a mini project by using ourselves creativity…After I was discussed with my partner lab, we lastly agree to analyze/determine the concentration of liquid milk in variety type of milk. We have chosen only two types of milk, marigold and magnolia. Calcium is one the most important cations in any natural sample matrix. Calcium is the principle cation in limestone and is essential to many body functions including myocardial contraction. Over 99% of the calcium present in the human body is found in the bones while the majority of the remaining 1% is found in the blood.

The method that we were used to run this experiment is by complexometric titration. Futhermore, we were taking EDTA as a titrant because EDTA is the most versatile agent and most commonly used titrating agent.

In this experiment, EBT was used as as a good indicator in titration with ion metals and solution EDTA, this indicator must have a different color in free condition and forming complex with metals ion. Besides that, metal-indicator complexometric titration must be less stable than metal-EDTA complex. That’s the reason Eriochrome Black T was used as an indicator.

So, from our experiment and calculation, we found out that the concentration of marigold milk is more than magnolia.
